Meet Aria. Your AI assistant that actually knows you.
Aria is a voice-first personal assistant that lives on your Android phone. She connects to your calendar, email, Drive, contacts, Slack, and more, then uses that context to help you move faster. No generic answers. No “as an AI.” Just a sharp, organized friend in your pocket.
What Aria Does
One assistant. Everything connected.
Aria isn’t another chatbot. She’s a native Android app that plugs directly into the tools you already use, then talks to you like a person who actually knows your life.
Your Schedule, Handled
Aria reads all your Google Calendars, finds free time, cross-references availability from Calendly links, and helps you schedule without the back-and-forth. She knows the difference between a work meeting and a personal one, and plans accordingly.
Email at a Glance
Ask Aria what’s in your inbox and she gives you the highlights, not a wall of text. She can search, read, archive, star, and summarize your Gmail so you stay on top of things without opening the app.
Google Drive, On Demand
Need to find that doc from last week? Aria searches your Drive, reads the contents, and gives you the summary. No digging through folders.
Contacts, Calls, and Texts
Aria searches your Google Contacts, makes phone calls, reads and sends texts (SMS and RCS), and checks your call history. She’s basically your phone’s power user mode.
Slack Across Workspaces
Aria reads channels, DMs, and threads across multiple Slack workspaces. She can catch you up on unread messages, search for conversations, and even send messages on your behalf (with your confirmation).
Google Chat
List spaces, read messages, search conversations, and send messages through Google Chat, all by voice.
Real-Time Info
Aria searches the web, fetches current news, checks the weather based on your GPS location, and pulls real-time data whenever you need it.
Device Controls
Set alarms and timers, toggle your flashlight, adjust volume, turn on Do Not Disturb, control media playback, and launch any app, all hands-free.
Memory That Sticks
Aria remembers what you tell her. Past conversations, preferences, important details, it all persists across sessions and syncs to your Google Drive as markdown files. The more you talk to her, the more useful she gets.
Customizable Behavior
Aria has her own instruction file that you (or she) can edit. Tell her “from now on, always remind me to stretch before meetings” and she’ll update her own behavior, permanently.
How It Works
Voice-first. Context-aware. Genuinely useful.
Aria is a native Android app powered by Claude, Anthropic’s AI model. Here’s what makes her different:
Wake word activation. Say “Hey Aria” and she’s listening. No buttons, no app switching. She also supports a soft sleep mode, so she can stay ready to wake up on command or fully power down when you want silence.
Tool-use architecture. When you ask a question, Aria doesn’t just generate text. She decides which tools to use (calendar, email, Drive, web search, contacts, etc.), calls them, and combines the results into a single natural answer.
Multi-account support. Connect multiple Google accounts. Aria knows which account to use for which task, and when there’s ambiguity, she asks.
Privacy-first design. Aria runs on your device. Your credentials stay local. API calls go directly from your phone to Google’s servers, no middleman.
Persistent memory. Aria stores facts from your conversations and syncs them as markdown to your Google Drive. She references past context naturally, like a friend who actually pays attention.
Why I Built Aria
A personal project, built for real life.
I’m Dan Van Tran, a CTO and builder based in New Jersey. I wanted an AI assistant that didn’t feel like a demo. One that knows my schedule, my communication style, my team, and my priorities, and could actually do things on my behalf, not just talk about them.
Aria started as a weekend project and turned into something I use every day. She’s opinionated, efficient, and occasionally funny. She calls me DVT and doesn’t waste my time with pleasantries.
If you’ve ever wished your phone’s assistant actually understood your life, that’s what Aria is.
Built With
Under the hood.
Aria is built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for a fully native Android experience. She’s powered by Claude (Anthropic’s AI) for conversation and reasoning, with direct integrations to Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, Google Chat, and Slack. Wake word detection runs on-device for instant activation, and text-to-speech gives her a natural speaking voice.
